I'm planning a shoot where the models hair look all frosty

can anyone explain how this is done in fact thing of making it look like a little bit of hail (snow in a can  for this bit with hair spray to hold it in place)

Depending on the look you are after you could use some props like a wind machine and anything that would resemble snow and have it blowing as it trickles into the air so it falls realistically. I'd possibly go as far as to get a load of that icy, frosty stuff that forms in your freezer, the loose stuff, stack it in a bag and put that on the models hair and get your shot in. It would melt pretty quick though and her hair will be wet after, and she'll freeze but you may get your shot.

Being a digital retoucher I'd do it different, use dry props like above to get he same effect then use digitial work to give the frost effect and tint her skin to look like she is cold. In one of my images for example the snow was added using shop. It's not my best work but gives an idea of how you can use digital work to create such an effect.

thank you for your reply some good ideas there and some thing to think about but I have found on ebay the following.

white hair spray paint
snow in a can ??

looking forward to this shoot (October 21st is booked for this)

I thought I would try my hand at a vodka ice advert just for fun (ok I may try and summit it for a advert). it never hurts to try

But even if I decide not to It will still be fun

Sounds cool! Look forward to seeing the results. Sounds like you are on the right track for ideas.

Maybe you can dry ice or novelty snow spray like you get at Christmas time. Some places are stocking xmas stuff already so it may not be as hard as you might think to find?

Good luck.
