Hello NP

Again we'd like to thank everyone for the feedback on our last big change recently with the home page getting a big make over.

In light of that feedback the following tweaks have been made:

  • Sections on home page compacted to make the page look less 'text heavy' and cluttered
  • Bother news tickers slimmed down
  • Tickers made to be consistent with same size thumbs on display
  • To avoid the appearance of an image cut off (part of a news scroll effect) tickers slimmed to prevent this effect
  • Recent rated images on home page brought down to 3 from 6
  • Shout out slots on home page reduced to 4 from 6
  • Platinum level space brought back to top above shout outs
  • Castings home page section compacted to remove unneeded information on home page
  • To ensure mailbox loading speed remains fast after new thumb changes page size reduced to 25 from 50

Other tweaks
  • The membership levels page has been made much clearer to help those unsure what they get at each upgrade level
As always keep the feedback coming, good or bad. Please use the forum rather than the shout box to give us your feedback so we can discuss any concerns etc

I have a suggestion guys, instead of today's activity and latest members images could we possibly not have the forum categories opened up with the latest post in each individual forum category expanded on mouse over?
I think at present 3 clicks to get to the individual forum (not knowing if there is anything of interest there)  and then open a topic is too much, if the latest threads within each forum were shown on the front page and were accessible by a single click I think people are far more likely to respond.
We are all a bit lazy i guess, we want it handing to us on a plate.
If this site is going to grow I think the forums are the only way its going to happen, we need to get some regular posters on here (I admit I have not been posting in the forum much) Maybe as members we could start making a bit more of an effort to do this also.As members I guess its in all of our interests for the forum to grow and we probably need to start taking some responsibility for this ourselves, instead of waiting for you guys to come up with some magic solution to increased site traffic.
Ok another suggestion, not sure its even possible but how about giving the members the opportunity to customise the front page via drag and drop, moving things to where they like them?

Hello Chris

What you have described is what the home page 'recent forum posts' section already does. It shows all the most recent threads across all the forums allowing a one click jump to all the current active topics and recent posts. I hope that helps.

Point noted on a customisable home page, if something like this can be feasible it is a option worth considering.

What I mean is the actual individual forums listed, the last post in each forum being the one on the front page. My reasoning is if the site needs more forum traffic surely the forums should dominate the page?

OK lol.... another suggestion, tell me to shut up if I'm on a mission :D
The latest members section, it would be great if it had the members location next to the member name, that way the new members would attract more attention instantly.
This way they are more likely to stay, hence more likely to become paying members.

We see your view, the downside to this is you may have one forum that is much more active than another. As such you'd only ever see one thread getting home page space from that forum and another forum that rarely moves staying on the home page permanently. When you consider forums such as looking for work this would not be beneficial to our members to be so easily bumped off the home page.

We already have a roll over effect when you hover over them giving you their location, main image preview and account type. We can't place the location directly under the name or next to it as it will not fit, the only option would be to display less new members on the home page (giving them less exposure when they join) and put the location underneath. I think you'll agree this would be worse and the roll over is a good solution to the space issue.

Do keep this feedback coming, we certainly do not mind discussing ideas such as this. Feel free to PM as well.

Sorry I'm back, for any of the newer members who think I complain all the time I don't, I spend as much time praising Seth and the site as I do whingeing, this is one set of changes that I don't think worked.

I'm pleased to see that some of the changes have gone back more or less to the Status Quo, I still have problems with the Activity section, at the moment it tells me that Barone and HannahE posted new pictures 2 minutes ago, I know, the pictures are there two inches away! Cassie Jade replied to a casting... so! I'm afraid I'm not interested, who else apart from the caster and Cassie Jade really are? The who's done what section could this not be done in say a little moving strip at the top of the page rather like the news channels have, we don't need the pictures as they are the same ones anyway, if I add three new pictures it doesn't show those three pictures, it shows my main image three times, we could then get all our space back again.

I liked the Image Comments section, I enjoyed reading them, this has shrunk to a measly three pictures to let other stuff in, and yet I'm sure that more people use that section than the shout section for their comments.

I still have really strong objections to the shout section being posted where it is, although it is far better than where it was, I think that if I were allowed to quietly ban a certain twelve people from shouting, the section would die, it's only those who use it regularly, it would be so much more productive if they used the forums instead, they are the real weakness on the site at the moment. I also think it's a bit weird to have all these castings and yet half the time the forums full of pleas for work as well.

So many changes in the past have been great, this last lot I feel was an attempt to keep pushing forward, a noble ideal but in this case I think a change too far, although the mark 11 version is a vast improvement on the original.

One change that I would really love to see is the ability to use the return key to go back to the page you were on, at the moment this is the only site that I know off where you have to keep returning to the home page before you can get back to where you were. Take for example you are reading a post on the forums on lets say page 4, a person posts, you wonder who that person is you cross to their profile and check, now you can't go straight back to the section/page you were on, you have to go right back to the beginning then come in on page 4 again rather than hit one key and return instantly, that I would love to see happen.

Well Tony as one of the "12" I feel I must defend myself :D
I have been a member for around 5 months and in that time it says I have logged 131 posts
You have been a member since 2008 and have logged 161 posts
I'd say on the whole I have posted my fair share of forum topics and responded to a few too ;)

With regards to the shout box its is just that, would you prefer that I made a separate forum post every time I wanted to say anything that would constitute a shout?

I actually agree with Tony on the shout area it was better at the bottom

I may add that untill I joined NP I was a shy and retiring nude model. I tried to remain aloof and serious like most within my genre however, whilst I take my work seriously I do not take myself in that vein. Some may say that its not the way to convey ones art but it does get me noticed and isn't that why we are here? Member Image

I think Tony liked it less at the bottom RD.

I never said you were one of the twelve Member Image Member Image

I would love to post more but I find myself far to busy most of the time Member Image

With regards to your last line would I prefer you to post every time you shout...NO, but I would say that if it isn't worth a post it's probably not worth saying anyway, and lets be honest 98% of all shouts aren't worth a jot anyway.

Someone suggested that it might be useful to say so and so model for instance was great, would it not make far more sense to post a comment complete with pictures? Your idea of a great model and the next persons idea may be diametrically opposed lets see the result then we can all decide.

"They will let you in but they may not let you out again"

"I have diplomatic immunity so I should be ok methinks;-)"

"Well thats enough fun for now must get on with some work. C u later I hope, :-)"

Is this really worth blocking a section of the front page for?? Surely Facebook or MSN is of more use, and it'll save boring the rest of us to death.

Still adjusting to the new look some of which I like some of which I don't but thats life. I do feel things have improved and it has been really good of N-P to listen to our concerns. I have been guilty of not using the forums very much in the past and I have just realized why. It was because when I have used them on other sites they often attracted the negative and bitchy brigade. The shout box here was friendly and social so I used it instead. I believe it was Chris who said that what makes this site so special is the people and I agree 100%. I am more then happy to receive constructive criticism as it helps me improve but I have no time for the warmongers. At least one model that I recommended join this site has done so recently and I will continue to recommend it as it is and I am sure will remain the Best of the Best.
