Topic | Model Studio Days, what do you prefer?
NunoSilvaStudios
Hello,

I have opened a new photographic studio for hire as Nuno Silva Studios, as you can check on my profile and I have posted 3 model studio days where I have 2 models working to a certain level and a maximum of 6 photographers but working as a group, obviously shooting one to one with the model but where they all share the space together for making it cheaper of course a bit more fun.

There are others who hire a model for a day and then advertise spaces on a hourly basis, which comes out cheaper but doesn't take the whole day as my ones do at the moment.

I was just wondering if I could have some insight as to what most photographers are looking for in terms of model studio days, what is your favourite way of participating on a model studio day, do you prefer to have one hour slots with the model alone or the whole day with 6 other photographers where you can share experiences and poses and discuss things.

Any help would be helpful as i want to make my model studios days the best in London and would like to have some feedback and opinions and ideas from photographers and model out there.

Thank you all.

Regards,
Nuno Silva

Hello,

On another forum i have been getting mostly 1-2-1 as their favourite.

Anyone here would like to give their own insight as to my question?

Thank you,
Nuno Silva

Hi Nuno
I've been on a few Studio Days which have consisted of 5 photographers and one model for two hours @ £50.
It sort of works, but it can feel like you are not really getting the one on one experience with the model. The only problem with one hour slots is it feels as you are being rushed.
It's not an answer, but somewhere in-between with a low price. Member Image

I have held both in the past and now only do studio days on a 1 to 1 basis.
But it is more important that you look at your pricing, most days 1 to 1 are in the region of 50 per hour so by charging 100 (special opening price) for one group photographer and saying they will get at least a hour shooting in 5 minute slots it works out far more expensive for the photographer who could book 2 hrs 1 to 1 with other studio days.
Working one to one is better because you will connect better with the model rather than snapping for 5 minutes and standing around for at least 25 minutes more waiting for your next turn. Unless all waiting photographers are in another room some of them will be shooting in the background during others time with model.

Hello,

I have now changed into 1-2-1 basis and at £50 per hour, so more in line with what others do and what other photographers have been saying to me as their favourite way of doing model studio days.

Thank you for your input.

Nuno Silva

Remember to keep a 10 minute break between each session, gives a chance for model to do bits and pieces also if someone books 2 hours you can give the 10 minutes as a bonus. The photographer will never mind if the model grabs a drink or pops out to get rid of one.

The 10 minutes stops the working photographer being hustled by the one who has booked after him/her.
