Topic | Concerns about a photographer
Keiran Bingle
Hi all, seeing a bit of movement on the facebook thread,
can people please give me their views on a photographer, who has been posting the following words on his status on facebook.
" i am organising a calendar shoot for a charity (not sure which one), all applicants should be over 18 years of age, and send their application, to his email address, with a picture of their selves in underwear"

at first i thought this sounded a little suspect, but now i'm not sure what i should do, i know he has his own photography business, so i guess he's a professional, but surely this is morally wrong to ask people to send their "self shots" to him. especially as even though he has put over 18's, you can not guarantee that they are all over 18.

what's other peoples views on this sort of behaviour?

I think he has sufficiently covered his arse, my moral views differ however!  Member Image

Even if he is doing it for legitimate reasons, it just sounds wrong to me.  He is unlikely to source any decent models like that and is more likely to get the sort of reputation he really doesn't want.

Thats what I thought, i mean there are several sites like this that offer the services of models to photographers, with out the need for "personal" photos to be sent through to them, a picture will tell you if they have a nice body, but cant really tell you if they can pose, or be suitable for the calendar work, thats why models have portfolios surley?

Anyhows, as the organiser of the Worcester Social meet, do i pass a word of warning on to the other photographers and models in the area? (the tog in question has never attended, but broken into the network of friends on facebook)

I think a note to say that this is not normal behaviour might be appropriate....but if he is using your group as an affiliation to achieve credibility then you have to fear the worst.  As for whether he is 'outed' is a call you will have to make......
