Hi all,
the answer to the question is 'YES'
I have been modelling for 6 months now and have created some fantastic images. The problem is my facial expression does not seem to change much. Iknow I do need some direction from photographers and when I get it I am ok. The trouble is not all photographers can direct and I find myslef not knowing how to stand and pose.
I really want to progress and improve and would like to know if anyone had any tips or advice? (from models or photographers)
Thank you
Claire

I think the best way to improve is by learning your best angles and practising infront of a mirror your posing and expressions. (when nobodys looking! ) Also if a photographer gives me the images from a shoot, I mean all of them not just the best I like to go through them and disect them seeing what I can improve and what pose didn't work and learn from it. If you have the money maybe enroll in a drama class or something as I always thought modelling is a soft form of acting in a silent movie. Also looking through professional models and photographers work you'll probably learn stuff by their work.

Having previously offered to help you and heard nothing, I assumed you didn't need my help, but some extra advice that I give to all inexperienced models I work with
Practice in a mirror, think of different trigger words, passion, anger, love, hungry etc and then think of situations that will get you into that mood
Have fun and good luck

Ok I been told this by a model and tog, Think as your dancing, Stretch your arms out in different angles like what the others said, on your own stand in front of a mirror and move or dance but keep your eye on the mirror or you could miss a good angle etc. It may look silly but it how 90% of the models do it. Or how about befriending another mod that is going to shoot and ask if you could tag along and in return help the tog or mod by holding clothes or reflector, if not how about making the cuppa etc.
You never know unless you ask and it's the best way to learn. I learn't more by watching or copy them than trying to do it on my own.
We all got to start somewhere and you will not be the last to do it so don't be shy.
As for expressions again in the mirror blow your cheeks up and relax move your eyes around as your looking over your shoulders etc. Another tip is you may say you are relaxed with the tog, but try get more comfortable by knowing them more/better. And I also find that this helps to, do 2 shoots with the tog first is trying it out get to know each other then when you go back you should be more relaxed and be able to do better expressions if your not comfortable then this is going to show. (This last tip is just an add-on as I not met you so I can't say weather your comfotable with the tog etc)
Also find a tog that is willing to explain where things are going wrong. As this will benefit the both of you. I haad my first model last Monday and she was brilliant but she changed pose's quickly and I was so slow so I'm hiring her again as I know I will do better next time. And I'm very sure so will you.
Good luck and have fun.
