It really depends on what you're aim is re a critique. For a commercial high street shoot I think your work probably hits the spot; I could see high-key kids and family shoots there. However you have a small and very white studio with 4 softboxes, understandably the light is therefore everywhere in your shots and is bouncing all over the place. It doesn't make them bad photos, just nothing special. Most of the bottom 2 rows are an example. Of course if that's what you're going for then you nailed it.....but if you want a Vogue or even Nuts look then you need to consider your lighting IMHO. The shots in my portfolio may not be your taste, I don't know, but each one was only one key light and one background light (or two - one either side - in the case of the white backgrounds). Just my thoughts.

I'd echo the above comments, I am sure you are meeting your market requirements but would suggest something with a bit more bite if you want to be stand out on intern et modelling sites.Your work shows a good understanding but its very "family portrait" and the competition on here is fierce.
No offence intended

Hey guys...you comments are valid, my back ground is family portraiture so high key is king. This is a learning curve for me, got some good ideas hence the reason I wanting models from NP to work with so I can change etc.....Again thank you for your comments!

Well its obvious you know what your doing so my suggestion would be break a few rules in composition and technique. It may be difficult for you at first to see things in a different way but you have the advantage of experience behind you. Turn your overhead lighting off and see what you can up with, experiment with lighting positions and shadows. Go for a less "nuked" look and try some work with different modifiers etc.

"Please rate my portfolio...thank you "
Sites like this one 5/10
Real world against the people I admire 2/10 at best.
Think about lighting your models rather than just illuminating them...think about how you work your models...you're not getting the best out of them.

Arriflex..thats why I ask for the rating etc....good or bad! To me the most important thing is the model is happy with the work - so far so good!

Quoting post from arriflex Crikey that was a bit cryptic Baroone. What doeth thou mean?
Not cryptic at all...The OP asked for a rating, but gave nothing by which to rate against...so me being the good guy gave 2 ratings....one using sites like this as a benchmark & one using real world pros at the top of their game..(well the ones I like) against which I would rate myself as a 3 & that's pushing it.
Also I thought a couple of pointers to improve wouldn't go a miss....but these are just my thoughts & what I would be looking to improve upon.

Not really...You're at the feet of someone who's given an opinion in an open forum as requested by the OP...I'm not saying it's the right opinion, just my opinion.....Thank god we're not all the same, otherwise there would never be a balanced view...

Your work is okay. It is very high street. It is better than average amateurs knock out and as Barone says, on here and sites like this you are probably in the top half.
I do not much like diffuse glow but that is subjective. Your poses are good for proms and portraits and that has commerciality. (I made that word up).
I like photos of pretty girls and so your subject matter is IMHO good.
Now though the "however".
They are not interesting. The compositions are sometimes awkward and the poses lifeless. I don't get a story or an emotional response when I look at them. They look designed to please the model or sitter rather than an audience.
Experiment with poses, crops, locations, expressions and different lights. You can take a good picture but really you should be demanding more of yourself.

Everybody's honesty is appreciated....my background is high street portraiture and this does show in my work (high key etc etc)...this is why I am on this site to learn / and gain feedback. I am a quick learner and love this side of the industry and enjoying trying to expand on what i do. Got to agree their are some cracking portfolios on here and some of these have been posted by people on this thread! Thanks again everyone.

A massive improvement there my friend. I notice the main image where nose is blended in to the skin so there no shape to it but apart from that there better than your last lot I have seen. Well done a pat on the back from me. But I don't know what others will say though! Keep it up and keep going. ..........JJ

I like the darker grey backgrounds for a starter. I'm going to buy a grey background off ebay. I sometimes wonder to myself how many photographers on this site actually make a good living selling pictures of girls to agencies or the mass media. This isn't a criticsm of you it's a question I would ask every photographer on here. Maybe the start of one of my long threads. Keep 'em peeled. As Shaw Taylor used to say. Showing my old age here.
